One of the best parts of living in Vancouver is exploring all that our beautiful city has to offer. You can go to Gastown for a modern twist on your favourite dishes, Granville Island for ice cream in all its creative flavours, or Lower Lonsdale for incredible seafood. What makes these places even better?
When you feel immersed in their ambiance the moment you cross the threshold.
I’ve visited several well-designed spots around the city, and while the aesthetics may not always match my own, the attention to detail and experience makes everything more memorable and enjoyable. Whether you’re looking for interior design inspiration, a romantic date night, or a beautiful brunch with friends, these 7 well-designed Vancouver destinations are great places to start…
1. The Fairmont Pacific Rim Lobby Lounge

Step inside the Pacific Rim Lobby Lounge, and you will be immediately swept up by its energetic atmosphere. Overflowing with vibrant food, beautiful marble, and live music, it’s impossible not to tap your feet and feel your spirits rising. The interiors’ pièce de résistance is the $225,000 Origami Faziolio Piano, a handcrafted Italian beauty with a unique 3D design under the lid. Here, emerging artists and nightly live music set the scene for a wonderful evening.
2. Vancouver’s Nightingale Restaurant

The Nightingale Restaurant promises head-turning two-story ceilings with arched windows and glowing natural light. The space is bright and elegant, with tiled pillars, black border details (you know I love that!), and unique coffered ceilings. Other perks of this space include a large, welcoming bar area where they serve beautiful handcrafted cocktails. (P.S. Nightingale Restaurant was a set in the popular Netflix movie, Always Be My Maybe. So you know it’s good.)
3. Rosewood Hotel Georgia

Stepping into Hotel Georgia is a bit like stepping back in time — or taking a jaunt to Europe. It has an old world feel, with beautiful stone, intricate moulding, and wood paneling, all with a touch of modern elegance. Whether you’re staying in an elegant suite, dining, or enjoying their spa, these sophisticated interiors are designed to envelop you in luxury.

You can’t help but smile as soon as you walk into The Cross Decor & Design, a pretty shop nestled in the heart of Yaletown. Their beautiful seasonal displays create a warm yet fresh feeling of home, and they have a variety of pieces to choose from: candles and furnishings, dishware and textiles, and even a special section for baby things.
5. Elisa Steakhouse

Elisa Steakhouse in Yaletown is a stunningly appointed restaurant. With beautiful natural stone, rich hardwoods, and a wine display you can’t take your eyes off, it’s as much of a visual feast as a culinary one. Dine under the custom Salt Mirrors by Brooklyn-based artist Fernando Mastrangelo while contemplating your next pour from the glimmering wine wall.
6. Vancouver’s Orpheum Theatre

The Orpheum Theatre may not be a restaurant or shop, but it’s a design masterpiece. The acoustics alone will immerse you in another world, but the elegant sweeping staircases, antique decor, and massive crystal chandelier will make you feel like part of something bigger than yourself. This gorgeous, more than 90-year-old venue also features an awe-inspiring ceiling mural and domed auditorium.
7. Acquafarina Restaurant

My husband and I spent our most recent anniversary at Acquafarina, and we couldn’t have been happier with the choice. In addition to sumptuous yet contemporary design and beautiful chandeliers, the food itself is a work of art. Every dish was beautifully plated, thoughtfully presented by excellent servers, and delicious! It was an experience we will definitely repeat in years to come.
What are your Favourite Vancouver Destinations?
It’s clear that the designers behind these Vancouver establishments have spent time and effort on making each location unique, engaging, and visually pleasing — and I know there is much more to discover, too. Vancouver is a haven for those who love immersive and meaningful experiences.
In fact, this is the same approach I take when designing homes. It’s not just about the “look” of the space. It’s about how it makes you feel and how it inspires you to live. Whether you’re building a new home or planning a large renovation, it is never too early to think about the experience you want to design.
